Mandy Coles reached 24 stone at her heaviest weight but astonishingly she managed to shed the pounds and drop to an impressive Since losing the weight, Mandy's life has changed drastically and she is now helping others as a Slimming World consultant and whilst working with other slimmers, she has spotted a common problem with parents falling into the trap of weight gain.

Mandy believes there's a simple solution - taking time out - and now she is urging parents to take time for themselves to change their lives too. She said she often meets parents who would just love to lose weight and lead a healthier lifestyle, but they feel that their life as a busy parent is preventing them from making those changes. Mandy explained that one of the greatest gifts she has gained as a result of her weight loss is the drive and physical ability to play with her six-year-old son.

In January , Tracey Needham weighed 19st and found her health and confidence suffering due to her weight, so she took the plunge and signed up to her first Slimming World class.

Everyone says people gain weight back once they lose a significant amount, and I was determined to not let that happen to me. Read Tracey's story here. She gorged on crisps, sandwiches and would finish her children's leftovers - but would never eat a proper meal. The year-old became addicted to fizzy drinks and would drink a large amount of calories in a few minutes.

The tipping point came when she was unable to walk her youngest son to school as she struggled to breathe if she walked too far, which sometimes resulted in her having to be treated in hospital. But in June , Tanya said enough was enough and was determined to shift the weight and joined the Honicknowle Slimming World group. But she doesn't just credit the weight loss group for improving her life, she believes she would not be here if she did not join the group.

Read Tanya's full story here. She used to joke to her friends that she was still battling with the baby weight - but the problem was the baby is now 44 years old. The now year-old vowed to honour her late father's memory and improve her health after watching him suffer during the last year of his life, which caused her to realise what impact being overweight can have on your health.

During lockdown, Donna has managed to lose 7lbs and in total, she is 4st 9lbs down, thanks to the help of WW. In November Donna signed up to WW, having recently retired as a business manager at a primary school. Donna said she was greeted with a "warm welcome" by Jane Billson, who runs the Ivybridge group. All those foods are really low in points which left me lots for a lovely evening meal. But instead of using fatty cuts of meat, I swapped to leaner ones and used lots of vegetables and herbs. Donna believes the WW programme "isn't just about food" and it encourages members to fit "more movement" into your day.

Donna was apprehensive about losing weight when lockdown arrived, as face-to-face workshops were put on pause. Read her story, here. A mum who hated having her photograph taken is now feeling more confident than ever after losing an incredible four stone.

Pareasa Kingwell started her weight loss journey just under a year ago and has already seen a drastic improvement. The mother-of-three first walked into Lorraine Wotton's WW [formerly Weight Watchers] class at the Unitarian Church in Notte Street, weighing 17 stone 12 pounds, after disliking how she looked in her holiday snaps. Now, just 11 months later, Pareasa weighs 13 stone 11 pounds, and is more determined than ever to hit her targets.

The year-old said: "I still have a long way to go, but doing WW has been the best thing, not just for me but my family too. Pareasa said that at the time of starting her weight loss journey, she was having health difficulties and wanted to improve her fitness so we would be able to look after her children better. Read her full story here. But after being inspired by a picture of a post-lockdown "fat Barbie doll" and with some help from her local WW group and supportive husband, she is shedding the pounds.

However, a week into lockdown, I saw an image online that really struck me. Abbie had re-joined WW, formerly known as Weight Watchers, in October and had been losing weight very slowly. I decided to join up with my previous coach and it was great to see lots of familiar faces on the zoom screen and to hear my old coach Laura Carson lead the workshop.

We all got involved and swapped top tips and talked about everything we would normally do in a face to face workshop. I make a note of the points I have leftover after I track my meals and make myself a little lockdown snack box so I know I can still have the things I love every day. In the past, my excuse for not losing weight was that I liked to go out with my friends and have coffee, lunch and dinner.

Now nobody is allowed to socialise, I can no longer use that as an excuse and the weight is beginning to fall off. A Plymouth woman has defied the odds and gone from being bed-bound and unable to speak to losing three dress sizes and running her own weightloss class. Sophie Rice has overcome incredible obstacles to transform her body and mind with the help of Slimming World and has shared the secrets to her success with Plymouth Live. But it certainly wasn't easy as after having suffered a massive seizure on September 9, , Sophie was left unable to move or to speak.

She was taken to Derriford hospital, where the seizures continued, but no cause could be found. Sophie could no longer speak normally and needed hour care. The future seemed bleak with Sophie having seizures every day, housebound and confined to a wheelchair, not knowing whether she would ever recover.

Sophie was delighted that her rehabilitation could start and she would be able to walk again. Over the next few months, with the help of the neuro-rehabilitation team, Sophie introduced body magic through walking as a way to build strength but also to have an overall healthier way of life.

She said: "I went from a size 18 to a size 12 and felt amazing in a bikini again. Slimming World has changed my life - I'm now able to cook again, family meals such as chicken and leek risotto and pitta pizza are still on the menu. For Sophie's full story, click here. A Plymouth mum was left so horrified by photographs of herself in her local newspaper that she shed a massive EIGHT stone. Catherine Scawn bravely featured in the Plymouth Herald two years ago, to share how she had overcome a mental breakdown, but she was left shocked after she "hadn't realised how large she had become" until she saw the article.

The florist originally lost over 4st through using dietary supplements and weight management until she lost enough weight to qualify for surgery. Cath struggled to lose the weight in the set time-frame and get her BMI, which was previously 47, down to She was able to keep trying and decided to give a new meal replacement and nutritional supplements plan a try at 17st 10lbs.

Cath said before she began her weight loss journey, she used to eat a large breakfast and would "secretly eat" lunch and hide wrappers, then eat a large evening meal. She would also finish what her children had left and would say it was OK because she "had not had lunch". Cath has now cut out fizzy drinks, has a "sensible breakfast, light lunch, piece of fruit and a small evening meal", along with plenty of water. She also alternates between her meal replacement plan, which is a herbal tea before breakfast, replacement meal shake for breakfast, fruit, meal replacement shake for lunch, protein bar mid afternoon and a sensible evening meal, with lots of water throughout the day.

Read Cath's full story, here. Lauren Fidler joined Slimming World in April after joining Peverell group and has now been nominated for the Young Slimmer of the year award. The year-old has revealed that the reason she thinks she has dropped from 17st Lauren joined the weight-loss group as she hated how she looked and felt "isolated" because of her weight, which also meant that she suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome [CFS]. Lauren joined Slimming World and lost almost a stone in her first month and she was still able to eat some of her favourite foods and never felt hungry.

She thanks the staff and members at her group for changing her life and earlier this year she was able to graduate feeling confident and content. Lauren went from a size 20 to a size eight and has since been horse riding and ran the Plymouth 10k, something she could only have dreamt of beforehand.
